Nature and Activities
in the Swiss National Park
Anyone holidaying in Graubünden should make sure they visit Switzerland’s first and only national park. The national park is strictly protected from human influence to allow flora and fauna to grow and develop in peace - guaranteeing a glimpse into the Swiss Alps’ natural range of species and plants on your guided tour or solo hike. The Engadine town of Scuol is set in the middle of this natural jewel, making it perfect for a holiday in the national park.
A range of sporting activities in the national park
Hiking and walking in Scuol is a real paradise for nature lovers and fans of this quiet and peaceful form of exercise, thanks to its exceptional location in the middle of the national park. You can discover 170 square kilometres of untouched nature on 80 kilometres of hiking trails. As well as guided hikes, you can head out on a nature watching expedition on nature trails and special trips for families and children - there’s plenty to see. What could be better - especially for kids - than watching wild animals in their natural habitats while making your way up a gently meandering path to the top of a mountain or to a cosy Alpine lodge?
On foot or by mountain bike: experience nature
If you’d rather get up a bit more speed and tackle your path at a racing pace with adrenaline coursing through your veins, you’ll find a mountain biking holiday in the Engadine region just the ticket. You can explore the secrets of Lower Engadine right outside the Hotel Bellaval as you take to well-signposted mountain bike trails on two wheels - in the mountain biking paradise of Engadine, you’ll be rewarded for your uphill efforts with flowing single trails and plenty of thrilling downhill riding. Guests at the Hotel Bellaval all receive a holiday ticket to use all public transport in Lower Engadine during their stay, so you can expand your expeditions as far as you please.
It’s no problem taking mountain bikes and e-bikes on public transport such as the Rhaetian railway in Switzerland!
Skiing in Scuol: winter fun right outside the hotel door
At the Hotel Bellaval, fans of skiing and snowboarding will find the perfect base for their fun on the slopes: the hotel’s location directly under the Motta-Naluns cableway station lets skiers and snowboarders easily get up into the mountains each day, and there are plenty of reasons for non-skiers to head up the cableway as well: all guests at the Hotel Bellaval receive free return trips up and down the mountain.
